For the first time ever, I was able to witness a solar eclipse. Though from Boise it was considered more of a "ring of fire" (kind of) I'm still happy to have witnessed it. In Boise we didn't quite get the full ring of fire effect but it was still pretty neat. .
I wouldn't be able to call myself a photographer if I didn't try to photograph it. You're supposed to try to do it with special equipment but I didn't have that so I did my best. As you can imagine, it takes some strange exposures to really catch what is going on. The photos I'm going to share look like they were taken after dark. Actually in order to capture the bright sun I had to crank my shutter speed really fast and close my aperture to 32.
They aren't the best pictures but it is as close to looking directly at it as you can get.
