WHAT IS BOUDOIR (BOOD-WAR) PHOTOGRAPHY?
If you're looking for exactly what the term means means, here you go: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boudoir
In a photography aspect, they are photos taken in a bedroom setting.
WHAT IF I'M NERVOUS
I wouldn't expect anything else! Most people are not used to getting their photos taken on a regular basis, let alone scantily clad. I do my best to make you feel comfortable and most of my clients leave feeling empowered and relaxed.
HOW LONG SHOULD I PLAN AHEAD IF I NEED MY PHOTOS FOR A SPECIAL OCCASION?
I always suggest doing your session a month before your event. In most cases, you have your images in your hands much sooner. This window gives us lots of time for editing and the proofing process.
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO PREPARE FOR THE SESSION?
Upon booking, I will send you a checklist of items that will help in preparing for the session. It will also include some outfit suggestions.
WHEN DO THE SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
Typically you will want to schedule some time during the day during the week. The best natural light indoors will typically around noon.
WHAT ABOUT HAIR AND MAKEUP?
All sessions come with professional makeup application. I can't stress how much this makes a difference! We can always add hair to your package, or you can do this ahead of time.
DO YOU DO BOUDOIR PARTIES?
Yes! Contact me about this and we can talk specifics.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Upon booking and I will send a guide to help you with a clothing selection based on location and your taste.
DO YOU PROVIDE CLOTHING?
No. The reason I don't is because women come in all different shapes and sizes. Most women also have their own style and flair. However, I am happy to guide you in this process.
WHERE DO SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
I have a shooting space in downtown Boise. It's all white and super simple. We can also reserve a hotel room at your expense, or we can shoot in your home for an additional fee.
DO YOU TOUCH UP IMAGES?
Yes! While I don't want to make you look like someone you aren't, I always go in and subtly touch up your images. Magazines lead us to believe all women should look flawless, but in fact, nobody really looks like that! You are beautiful in your own way so I don't like to manipulate the images but I always so a little "airbrushing" where needed.
WILL ANYONE ELSE SEE MY IMAGES?
No! Unless you want them to. I don't share images publicly unless you've explicitly given me permission. The images on my site are clients who were happy to share with those who are interested in booking.
HOW LONG WILL THE SESSION TAKE?
Makeup application will take about an hour and your session will take up to 2 hours.
Definitely give yourself a 5-hour window from start of makeup to finish of the session so we aren't rushed.
WHY CAN'T I PURCHASE DIGITAL IMAGES ONLY?
You can purchase digitals, but I require the purchase of an album before that is possible. There are a couple reasons why I require an album purchase before you are able to purchase digital images.
With the digital age, it's often that we get photos taken and never print them out. You've put so much time an energy into this process, it would be a shame to collect the digital images for them to never be seen again. This is such a personal and beautiful session, and it is so much more rewarding when you have something tangible to hand over to look at for years to come.
The second reason I require a book purchase is because I don't trust your digital images being handled by someone else. In most cases, people will send their digital images over to a chain one-hour photo to get them done. Do you know who is looking at those images when you take them to a local lab? Do you know what they are doing with those?
By making sure you have a tangible product in your hand, you are less likely to print them at a local one-hour lab. This means more security for your images. You don't have to worry about someone snagging these images and uploading them to the internet or keeping them for themselves (this stuff really happens). My professional lab guarantees the privacy of your images.
When you have a tangible copy of your images, the digital copies serve as something your significant other can have on their phone, or simply a digital backup should you need it.
